Child Development

Disconnected Kids

Dr. Robert Melillo
This book offers an encouraging outlook on a rapidly growing condition, along with actionable tests and strategies to reduce symptoms. A must-have for anyone struggling with a neurodivergent diagnosis, as I once did.

Homeschool

Synthesis Tutor

For homeschoolers, this site offers great ideas for breaking down math concepts. However, with my children’s limited communication, I can’t gauge their understanding, making it hard to use independently. The lengthy questions and dense content can also be overwhelming. Still, I appreciate the tool and recommend giving it a try!

I Know It

This site is visually unappealing, with small graphics, but the practice exercises are highly valuable. Due to its lack of visual appeal, children may be less likely to work independently; however, the content makes it worth the effort.

Reading Eggs

Recommend: highly
This well-designed site offers great content with a structured layout and graphics. After each section, kids must score at least 80% to progress. While I rarely recommend sites for independent use—since my kids always find ways to game the system—most children could likely navigate it on their own and benefit from it.

IXL

Recommend: highly
This site is excellent for ensuring your child understands information at a national level. While I rated it highly, children with comprehension difficulties may require additional support, as independent work can be challenging for them.
